Parish Logo
Our logo is intended to capture the spirit of our two parishes in collaboration with one another and our connection to the mission of Jesus Christ. The logo has two lilies – one representing each parish.
The lily is a symbol of the Blessed Mother. It is a symbol of virginity and purity. There is also a white day lily which only blooms during the time of the Assumption in mid-August and is known as the Assumption Lily among horticulturalists.
The lily is a symbol of St. Anthony as he is usually depicted holding a lily. Most images of St. Anthony of Padua depict him holding the Child Jesus and with lilies. With Saint Anthony lilies have special significance. Lilies are in bloom around much of the world in the month of June, the month of his Feast Day [the 13th].
The lily is also a sign of life and growth, As part of God's creation lilies show the ongoing nature of God's love and protection. It signifies our connection to the incarnation of Jesus as human and divine and the incarnation of all of creation.
The cross connects us to Jesus. It is laying down because we believe in the Risen Christ. As disciples of Jesus we each need to pick up our own cross and carry it. (Luke 9:23)
If you look closely you will find the initials of our parishes in the logo as well. Can you find them?
