Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Role: The Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (Eucharistic Minister) assists the priest with the distribution of the Eucharist (one of either species). Some Eucharistic Ministers also volunteer to take Eucharist to home bound parishioners on an occasional basis.
Major Responsibilities:
Personal Qualities needed: Extraordinary Ministers of Holy communion should have a love for the Eucharist and be prepared to reverently distribute communion to the assembly. They must be at least 16 years old and fully initiated in the church (have received the sacraments of Baptism ,Eucharist, and Confirmation).
Time Commitment: Attendance at initial and ongoing formation and attendance at Mass as scheduled.
All volunteers 14 and older must take the child and youth protection training Virtus. To volunteer contact Deacon Joe Wolf at 301-271-4099 or [email protected]

- Arrive 10 minutes before Mass to ensure everything is set up
- Distribute communion as scheduled during Mass
