Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation

Picture
The preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is a year long process.  A registration/information form is sent inviting high school students to participate.  They are required to have been in religious education at least 1 year immediately prior to the preparation for the sacrament and preferably for 9 years immediately prior.  A general parent and candidate meeting is held in September to provide parents and candidates with the procedures involved in the process.  The preparation process includes classroom sessions, Christian service,  and a retreat.  Reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation  usually takes place in May at the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Basilica together with the parish of St. Joseph, Emmitsburg.  For more information please contact our Director of Faith Formation, Deacon Joseph Wolf at 301-271-4099 or [email protected]
