On Sunday, May 1, Bishop Denis Madden, auxiliary bishop of Baltimore, confirmed 38 young people from 5 parishes at the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. The newly confirmed from St. Anthony Shrine and Our Lady of Mount Carmel are: Katie Adams, Pablo Archila, Cameron Baumgardner, Haleigh Bowling, Adrianna Bussy, Jonah Cavey, Kelly Glass, Brenden Morris, Silas Nickerson, Alex Wivell, and Issiah Wivell. Lucy Estep was unable to join the group but will be confirmed at a later date. May the Holy Spirit continue to inspire these confirmandi and our parishes through them.
Over the next several weeks our parishes will be conducting the St. Anthony Shrine-Our Lady of Mount Carmel Registration/Re-registration Drive. This will help us to update our parish records with accurate information on our parishioners. It will also help the Archdiocese to assess the needs in our region.
We want to know the new members of your family and those who are no longer in your household. We recommend that anyone over 18 register on their own even if he or she is still living with their parents.
There are many benefits to registering in a parish. You become a connected member of our faith community. You will receive communication about our parishes both general (upcoming events, Christmas schedule, etc.) and specific (info about sacramental preparation if you have children in the age group; opportunities available for particular needs). You will receive acknowledgement of your parish contributions. We are not asking for information to solicit anything from you but rather to provide for you. Most importantly we want to know you. We want to know your ministerial needs. It will help us to anticipate and meet those needs.
We are also preparing to do a new parish picture directory in the fall. So registering will give you the opportunity to be in our directory, get 1 free family picture, a free directory, and the chance to purchase more family pictures for holiday gifts.
Those who register early are eligible for prizes and all will get a gift from the parish just for registering in our new system.
Most people will be able to do this from home and we encourage you to do so. On the back of this insert are the instructions for registering on line.
We will have computers and people available after Mass the weekend of May 21/22 to help you register. In most cases you will just have to confirm that the information is correct. In some cases we’ll have to update what we have. Keep looking for more information in future bulletins.
Joseph and Mary participated in a census and look what happened! Thank you for registering in our parishes.
